That Scarlet Pimpernel

I am a near constant traveller based in Miami Beach, Fl. Over the years I have burdened my friends with a flood of emails, seems time to move on, get with the times and burden them with a flood of blog entries! Inspired by my fictional alter ego, I can only observe "he's here, he's there, he's everywhere, that damned Pimpernel..."

Free at last!

My British company of 2 weeks, aka the Princess and the Princeling return to the freezing UK before cocktails today, free at last! Yes, I am old, but these two are the most trying guests I can remember, however, enough kvetching, they're gone. On a related note, may I say how very tired I am of ungrateful people. I am not talking about serious behind kissing, I am talking about the occassional sincere thank you and maybe a handshake when someone dumps a couple of grand trying to insure you have a good time. This has happened several times with "friends" in the last couple of years, so, may I offer sincere gratitude to the many true friends who have helped me in the hospitals and since and an equally sincere UP YOURS to the users, the bank is closed. Lovely morning in SoBe after a big rain storm last evening, let's see if the Princess enjoys it -- nah, am i going loony?

Edison's Bash

Edison threw one of his evenings at Halo last night, lots of fun -- even if I had to make it an early evening. The tragedy of limiting myself to a single $5 cocktail is just unspeakable. Halo is a great space and their staff seemed very eager to please so it was quite a pleasant time for all. Edison pulled off his usual magic, filling the place with handsome beach boys and local celebs (or near enough) Miami could have a new Friday hotspot, with the Palace in ruins we can use one. in my opinion, Edison doesn't get enough credit for the large body of effort he has exerted for the Sobe social scene, hip-hip huuray!

home again

I am home! Thank God almighty, I am home. I am still recovering from the January strokes but at least I am mobile and with Alexis' help able to keep the serfs in line. Unnfortunately the Palace has been lost. The happy place has been sold and is basically no more, $11 cocktails tend to minimize happiness Everyone is of course deeply saddened but such is life and people are moving on I am so glad to be out of the chill and damp of the UK, what an unfortunate place, of course being bedridden probably influenced my opinion of the place. Given the disaster that is BA, itseems unlikely that I will be returning any time soon. However I still have my little corner of paradise that is South Beach and the Purple Pimpernel shall ride again!
